Whether you need 100 invitations, to do gold embossing on a photo album or bind a family chronicle, the shared bookbinding workshop will make your job easier. It doesn’t matter whether you are an amateur or a professional, if you bind books for fun or not at all. Our workshop is here for anyone looking for space and peace to work with paper.

What can I do in the workshop?

The fully equipped bookbinding workshop offers everything you need for bookbinding and working with paper. You can come and format sheets of paper, staple 50 brochures or make an embossing on a gilding press. In addition to the workshop, you can also use the kitchen. You can brew coffee or tea during a break or heat up your lunch in the microwave.

Workshop equipment

Bookbinding press, electric stack cutter, hand stack cutter, shears, drill, V1 binding machine, knocking press, gilding press, creasing and perforating machine, corner rounder. You will also find the following tools: folding bones, awls, needles, metal rulers, cutting mats, deburring knives and scissors.

How it works here?

Before entering the workshop for the first time, you must attend a basic training session, where we will show you how to operate the individual machines and introduce you to work safety. Then you just need to find a suitable date, book the desired number of hours and pay. You come in at the given time, check in, put your stuff in your locker and get to work. When you’re done with your work, clean up after yourself and we’ll look forward to your next visit. We’re open on these days: Tue-Fri / 13:00–19:00, Sat / 13:00–17:00 (unless there is a workshop ongoing)

How much will it cost me?

The workshop can be visited via single entry passes, which can be purchased through the booking system for 1–6 hours. The basic rate is CZK 200/hour. for 2–3 hours the price is 150 CZK/hour, from 4 hours you can work in the workshop for CZK 125/hour. Work on the gilding press is for an additional fee of CZK 100/hour.

What’s included?

All machines are at your disposal, the gilding press can be used by prior reservation for an additional fee of CZK 100. You can use basic materials: thread, glue, wax, spare blades for knives, staples for staplers. The price also includes basic bookbinding materials: backing material, waste paper, old printed matter, bookbinding cardboard cuttings and various paper cuttings.

What is not included and can be bought from us?

You can buy bookbinding canvas, bookbinding cardboard (sheets), blank sheets of paper, bookbinding rings, bookbinding screws and gauze at the workshop. The price also does not include work on the gilding press, which can be booked for an additional CZK 100, which includes the colour foil for thermal embossing.
